Circular Economy

The circular economy is a systemic approach to resource use that aims to reduce dependence on finite materials by keeping products and building components in circulation through reuse, repair, and recovery. In contrast to the dominant linear model of “take–make–dispose,” it emphasizes designing economic and regulatory systems that retain material value across entire life cycles, particularly in resource-intensive sectors like construction. Northern Europe, and the Nordic countries in particular, has become a leading center of policy innovation and applied research in this transition—an evolution that also forms a core focus of my ongoing research.
Interviews that I’ve conducted on the circular economy can be read here.
